- 1 Capsicum cut into julienne pieces
- Onion 1 (cut like shashlik or sliced onion)
- Potatoes 4
- Green chilies 2 julienne
- Chili Garlic Sauce 2 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Sweet chili sauce 2 tbsp
- Black pepper powder – 1 tsp
- (optional) Soya sauce 1tbsp
- 2 teaspoons finely chopped ginger-garlic
- 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
- 2 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
- 2 tablespoons corn flour
- 1 tsp pepper powder
Chili potato is one of the popular chili recipes from Indo chinese cuisine. Chili potato recipe is a very tasty and flavorful starter .This is a very easy chili potato dry recipe.
To make chili potato dry recipe select fresh big potatoes. The potatoes should be par boiled first. The potato wedges should be fried well. You can either deep fry or shallow fry the potatoes. I always shallow fry the potatoes for chili potato recipe. Shallow frying takes some time but you can get away with little oil. Here I have used green chilies and bell peppers. You can use colored bell peppers to make the dish more attractive.
Wash and peel the potatoes. Slice them into wedges or fingers as you will do for french fries and soak them in cold water for 30 minutes.
Add them to a bowl of water and boil until they are slightly cooked. Do not over cook they need to be firm. Drain them.
Add cornflour,pepper powder and salt in a bowl and mix well. Toss the drained potatoes in the flour mixture and mix well.
Heat some oil in a shallow frying pan and shallow fry the potatoes , remove and keep it aside .In same pan add capsicum, onion saute it for a minute and keep it a side.
In the same pan add the finely chopped ginger garlic, green chilies and saute well.
Add tomato ketchup,soy sauce,sweet chili sauce,black pepper powder, chili garlic sauce, salt with little water . Mix well and saute for 2-3 minutes in high flame.
